May 2020

This is obviously a difficult time for everyone. It is certainly a challenge trying to run our business right now. Having said that we value human life more than our business and so we support fully Governor Whitmer’s orders to limit they way we do business.

We are open and following all government guidelines. We continue to roast coffee and make beverages for your taste of “normal”. We have completely sealed off our Barista area with clear screens which have only a small opening on the bottom for payment and providing drinks. There are only a couple of us here, but we are wearing masks and ask that you do the same during you visit.

You may call ahead to order if you like. We do not utilize any online ordering system as we believe their pricing structure is not fair to restaurants. Also, the steamed milk in espresso drinks is very delicate and we believe they should not be held for more than a few minutes. We have always been focused on the cup and remain committed to that philosophy.

We are roasting coffee and have whole bean or ground coffee available for you to enjoy at home. We also continue to bake from scratch using real butter and real vanilla along with the best ingredients we can source for our, from scratch baked goods.

We believe our staff, along with in-house roasted beans are the reason we are successful. We are honored to have been chosen by Moody-on-the-Market as one of the 20 Best Places to work in Southwest Michigan. While we have furloughed our staff for our business to survive, we are regularly in contact with them. All of them are well and intend to come back to work here after this is over.

To be clear, we have a healthy business and brand, we will be open on the other side. We are so confident in our future; we are still planning to open a second location at 138 Water Street in Benton Harbor.

In the meantime, we wish you and yours a safe and healthy quarantine.

Warmly,

Brian & Barbara Maynard
