JOIN OUR TEAM

Named as one of the “Twenty Best Places to Work” in Southwest Michigan by Moody-on-the-Market, we are looking for some additional friendly, outgoing, empathetic, kind people to join our team. We are pleased to bring our coffee and our brand to downtown St. Joseph this Spring. Located at 222 State St (at the corner of State and Pleasant Streets). Our staff will rotate between all three locations: 222 State St. & 2045 Niles Rd. in St. Joseph and 138 Water Street in the Benton Harbor Arts District.

Forté Coffee is fully focused on the “craft-coffee” experience; this is NOT fast-food coffee. Our shops have been designed and built to provide our guests with a clean, warm, and inviting environment to enjoy coffee and conviviality. In addition to coffee our menu includes house made grab-and-go sandwiches, salads, and baked goods. We also serve cold/nitro brewed coffee and smoothies. We roast all the coffee we prepare and sell at Forté.

While our café is warm and inviting, the environment is only the beginning. Our craft-coffee experience is delivered by our amazing team. We offer a fun and empathetic work environment where staff can bring their whole self to work. To be clear, this is not a "fast-food" job. We prefer to hire experienced Baristas but if you have the right outgoing and friendly personality, we will train you.

A Coffee Specialist (Barista) will be obsessively focused on our guests, as they are the reason we exist. We cross-train all staff on every aspect of our operation including: Customer service, baking, coffee preparation, cleaning, and coffee roasting. We are looking for a few outgoing empathetic people who enjoy the work of guest service and are coffee obsessed.

Specifically, a Coffee Specialist (Barista) will:

Welcome guests and provide a warm friendly experience

Educate guests by presenting and explaining the coffee menu and answering questions. Our goal is to demystify coffee.

Sell and properly prepare coffee, tea, hot chocolate, smoothies, and other beverages. This will be done by following prescribed recipes and procedures.

Maintain a safe and healthy work environment by following organization standards and sanitation regulations. All staff will clean and maintain equipment including restrooms, kitchen, and other areas within and outside of the café.

Advance industry knowledge by participating in educational opportunities; reading coffee, retail trade, and food service publications; maintaining personal networks.

Maintain inventories by replenishing coffee bean supply; stocking coffee brewing equipment; maintaining supplies, pastries, and cookies for coffee bar.

Our pay is commensurate with experience (minimum of $9.65/hour) plus tips.

The best way to apply is to come to our shop at 2045 Niles Rd in St Joseph and ask for an application.
